2018 Ford Focus ST Spy Photos
The new 2018 Ford Focus ST will obviously pack more punch than the regular Focus. And with this hatchback already having a popular following in quite a few markets around the world, it is looking to move ahead of competitors like Mazda 3 and Golf GTI. The Ford Focus was first launched in North America in 2000 to replace its cousin – Ford Escort. But the last generation of Ford Focus, from 2011, got a facelift back in 2015. Consequently, they have decided to come out with the refreshed Ford Focus ST.
2018 Ford Focus ST – Changes in Dimensions
The new modified bumpers both on the front and rear will probably make this 2018 Ford Focus ST longer than its earlier version. The platform becoming lighter is a good sign, since it points towards this vehicle becoming more fuel efficient, which will give Ford an upper hand in the present market. Reports suggest that the body of the car may also be getting the dual racing stripes, giving it a seriously sporty look. Front lights and grille setups are set to remain as they are.
This is expected to have the standard seating for 5 and the regular leather upholstery with power adjustable seat for the driver. The legroom has been an issue in the present generation of the Focus, but that might not be a problem in the new ST. Why? A wider wheelbase implies that cabin space will be larger than it was in the earlier version. Its SYNC3 infotainment system is probably going to be continued in the new vehicle, and driver assistance features like blind spot monitoring or high beam assistance will be the bare minimum available on this new vehicle.
2018 Ford Focus ST – Engine Options
The regular versions can go along with any of 3 engine units available – 2.0L 4 cylinder, 1.0L 3 cylinder and a 2.3L 4 cylinder engines, depending on their ranges. This 2018 Ford Focus ST, however, is supposed to carry 2.0L EcoBoost under its hood. This makes the hatchback pump a solid 252 horsepower, with a torque of 270 lb-ft. With this kind of power, the 2018 Ford Focus ST will probably go from 0 to 60 mph in under 7 seconds, which is more than decent for a hatchback.
2018 Ford Focus ST – Expected Arrival and Price
The 2018 Ford Focus ST is expected to make its debut in early or mid-2018. Some reports suggest we may even see an early outing in late 2017, but that remains to be seen. Base versions of this hatchback for its third generation are available from $17,000, but with this new ST model, that is expected to rise to $25,000. That implies a competitive pricing range, so that other hatchbacks like Mazda 3, which costs more than $26,000, will have to offer more than they do at present.
